The ‘Clerkes’ is a group of historical re-enactors mainly drawn from 'The Vikings’ re-enactment society with an interest in re-enactment of the English church c. 800-1100. Members come from all over the UK and beyond, and meet at events held across the country. For details seethe link at the bottom of this page.
The Vikings’re-enacts the period c. 800-1100, and we cover Anglo-Saxon England, Viking raiders and Anglo-Scandinavian settlers, early medieval Wales and the period of the Norman Conquest. The purpose of the ‘Clerkes’ is to oversee the authenticity of portrayal of the church, to support and guide those with an interest in ecclesiastical re-enactment and to provide a structure for the advancement of ecclesiastical re-enactment.
